This is a tradition that continued with Georgene and Charlie even as late as this year.

Among her involvements through the years, Georgene was a member of the Catholic Knights Insurance Fraternity, was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliaries and also served as president of the Gold Star Mothers. She took part in many church events, sponsored children in need and was always willing to help anyone who was down and out. She will be remembered as a gracious hostess and fabulous entertainer whose door was always open. This the information on the death of Ron Hasko as remembered and from the personal ledger of his squad leader, James Gregg

"Well today I received word that Hasko had been killed.  I had sent him to the field to do some work with a chain saw. There were only 3 GI's on the hill last night, the rest were P.F.’s. (Local popular forces) Charley hit them and the P.F.'s ran. Hasko got hit with a mortar round. Singletary was the only GI that made it. Ron Hasko and the Captain got killed along with everyone else on the hill. I packed his equipment and took it to the supply room. It will be sent home"
