Webmaster’s note; Today Aug 18, 2011 a US Army brother from David’s hometown, and boyhood friend of David, Melvin Paul sent me the information on the VFW Post #1327’s efforts to honor David Bruner with a tribute for his family back in June 26, 2010.
It is also this day that I sadly found out of the passing of his Mother on March 12, 2011 at the age of 95….

Lest they be forgotten.  Jun 26, 2010
An oversight was corrected last week when VFW Post 1327 met with Gold Star Mother, Lizzie Bruner, 95, to pay tribute to her son, U.S. Army Sp4 David Bruner who died in Vietnam, May 14, 1969, 23 at the time of his death.
Although, according to Bixby resident Jack Ramsey, “Bruner will be enshrined forever on the walls of Muskogee Veterans’ Museum”, Post 1327 wanted to honor Lizzie Bruner, who had given the ultimate sacrifice of a mother to her country.
Here Amon Deere tells the story of David Bruner before presenting a plaque and Purple Heart to Bruner's mother.
